Zeeshan Ansari made a memorable IPL debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad, claiming three wickets against Delhi Capitals in the 2025 season.

Zeeshan Ansari had a stellar debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025, claiming three wickets against Delhi Capitals on Sunday. The Uttar Pradesh-born leg-spinner replaced pacer Simarjeet Singh in the squad. Despite SRH falling short of victory, Ansari stood out with his impressive spin bowling. Purchased for ₹40 lakh in the mega auction, he dismissed Faf du Plessis in his second over and sent Jake Fraser-McGurk back to the pavilion in the same over. He later also claimed the wicket of KL Rahul.
The 25-year-old previously played for India’s U-19 team alongside Rishabh Pant. However, he has limited experience in the shortest format of the game.
Zeeshan has featured in just one Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match for Uttar Pradesh, where he bowled four overs, conceding 32 runs without taking a wicket. Despite this, he has managed to claim 17 wickets in first-class cricket.
His performance in the Uttar Pradesh T20 League was remarkable, where he finished as the highest wicket-taker. Playing for Meerut Mavericks, he grabbed 24 wickets in 12 matches, helping his team lift the trophy.
Mitchell Starc’s sensational five-wicket haul propelled Delhi Capitals to a dominant seven-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad, securing their second consecutive IPL win on Sunday.
Batting first, SRH managed 163 in 18.4 overs despite a stunning 74 off 41 balls from Aniket Verma and Heinrich Klaasen’s quickfire 32 off 19. Kuldeep Yadav impressed with figures of 3 for 22.
Starc dismantled the lower order, taking two wickets in three deliveries in the 19th over.
Chasing 164, Axar Patel’s Delhi Capitals cruised to the target in just 16 overs, courtesy of a fiery start from Faf du Plessis (50 off 27) and Jake Fraser-McGurk (38 off 32).
